Ikigai is a Japanese concept which means “reason of being.” It mainly consists of the following four attributes: What you love. What you are good at. What the world needs, and what you can pay off for. With the concept of Ikigai, you can work and live vibrantly.
On this tour, you will meet people in various ways of Ikigai in the Unnan area, in the southeastern part of Shimane prefecture. Step away from the rush and chaos of every day and reconnect with the warmth of the people living in nature. You will have an opportunity to explore the secret of how people in this area find purpose in their lives and live with fulfillment, leading you to reflect on your way of living and working.

Itinerary

Day1 9:00 a.m. Meet at JR JR Izumo-shi Station or Izumo Airport.
10:30 a.m. Discovering Kumiko Craftsmanship at Funaki Wood Works.

12:45 p.m. Savor Japanese Delicacies at Yamaneko-an.
3:45 p.m. Journey to Okuizumo’s Iron craft Legacy.
4:00 p.m. Making Dorayaki, a Japanese confectionary, Experience at Matsuba-ya.

Located in the historically significant lanes of Okuizumo, this guesthouse occupies an entirely renovated building that once served as the main branch of a time-honored Japanese confectionery, boasting a legacy of more than 80 years. The guesthouse is well-appointed with modern conveniences like Wi-Fi, a monitor TV, and other amenities. Immerse yourself in the allure of dwelling in a townhouse while relishing your time here!

city in Shimane Prefecture.I enjoy travelling and have visited nine countries so far. Through experiencing the warmth and passion of local people abroad, I have learned to turn my attention to my own hometown. From 2021, I began working as a local guide, leveraging my past overseas experiences to help guests discover the unique surprises and joys specific to Unnan area.

This tour is designed to provide an immersive experience, and while it doesn’t involve strenuous physical activities or energy-consuming tasks, please note that the schedule may be demanding. There are no specific age limits or fitness requirements, but participants should be prepared for a schedule that might involve extended periods of walking and active engagement with the activities.

Cancellation Policy for “Though Inaka” [Find Your Ikigai]

Cancellation of the custom-ordered “Though Inaka” [Find Your Ikigai] is subject to the following charges:

Cancellation Charges:
31 or more days prior to the first day of the tour: 10% of the total tour cost
30-8 days prior to the first day of the tour: 20% of the total tour cost
7-4 days prior to the first day of the tour: 50% of the total tour cost
3-0 days prior to the first day of the tour or non-appearance: 100% of the total tour cost

Payment Refund Process:
In the event of cancellation, after the customer completes the payment of the tour cost, the refunded amount will be calculated by deducting cancellation charges, bank handling charges, and any other costs incurred by travel service providers (railway company, accommodation, etc.) from the amount already paid.
The refunded amount will be remitted to the bank account specified by the customer.

Cancellation Date:
The date of cancellation refers to the date and time when the notice is received by “Though Inaka” based on Japan time. This contrasts with the local date and time when the customer sends the cancellation notice.

Refund Processing Time:
Please allow up to 14 days for the refund to be credited to the customer’s account.

Tour Alterations:
“Though Inaka” reserves the right to alter the itinerary or tour components if necessary for reasons beyond our control. Any changes will be communicated to participants in a timely manner.

Participant Substitution:
If you are unable to attend the tour, you may substitute another person. Please notify us in advance with the substitute participant’s details.
