Description
Tsukaru is fully booked, so you cannot join the entire tour, but you can still participate in other activities.
This two-day journey on May 4th and 5th offers an opportunity to discover the beauty and heritage of the Okuizumo region while engaging with its inhabitants. We’ll meet at Kaneyoshiya, a welcoming community space in Mizawa, where you’ll be greeted with Sri Lankan curry. Following introductions, we’ll explore local culture, including Tatara ironmaking and terrace rice fields. Our exploration continues with visits to nearby shops and conversations with locals, providing insights into their lifestyles. Accommodation at Tsukaru, a charming guest house run by a dedicated couple, offers a chance to relax in a nearby onsen. Dinner at Tsukaru allows for sharing stories and building connections. The next day, after a hearty breakfast, we’ll journey to Mount Sentsu, rich in history and biodiversity. With luck, we may catch a glimpse of the rare Katakuri flower. At the mountain peak, we’ll enjoy onigiri lunch amidst breathtaking views before descending. Before bidding farewell, we’ll visit a local specialty shop for souvenirs and treats. Our journey concludes at Next Batters Box, where we’ll unwind with Sri Lankan tea and reflect on our experiences together.
