Description

At Unshu Yukimitsu Hamono, located in the historic ironworking region of Okuizumo, you’ll join a rare hands-on experience led by Kusunoki-san. Using traditional tools and time-honored techniques, you’ll shape and forge a real kitchen knife. The experience reflects the essence of Japanese monozukuri (craftsmanship) and offers insight into the deep cultural roots of Japanese bladesmithing. The completed knife will be engraved with your name and serve as a lasting memento.

Itinerary

1 Welcome & Registration – Meet your host and receive a safety briefing.
2 Workshop Preparation – Learn the forging steps and change into work gear.
3 Knife Making – Heat, hammer, and shape the blade with Kusunoki-san’s help.
4 Finishing Touches (30 min) – Your knife is engraved and polished, with the handle fitted.
5 Wrap-up – Take home your one-of-a-kind handmade knife.
