Kumiko woodworking is a traditional Japanese craft technique that involves assembling wooden pieces without the use of nails to create various patterns. Skilled artisans meticulously handcrafted each small wooden piece to ensure they can be seamlessly combined. By selecting and combining your favorite wooden pieces, you can create a unique coaster that is one of a kind. Experience the delicate and precise world of Kumiko while enjoying the various colors and scents produced by locally sourced wood. Additionally, renowned artisan “Modern Master” Mr. Kiyoshi Funaki will share his insights and techniques honed through his interaction with nature. Itinerary

2 Kumiko Work Experience
Engage in an immersive Kumiko work experience guided by a skilled craftsman. Learn the art of combining wooden pieces without nails, and create your own original coaster. Choose pieces in your preferred color and shape to form a personalized pattern. The crafting session will last approximately 60 minutes.
3 Talk by “”Contemporary Master Craftsman”” Kiyoshi Funaki
Listen to an enlightening talk by Mr. Kiyoshi Funaki, a Contemporary Master Craftsman, as he shares insights into the sensitivity and techniques he has cultivated through his deep connection with nature and craftsmanship. The talk will provide a deeper understanding of the art of Kumiko and its place in contemporary times. The talk session will last approximately 60 minutes.
